Act Bim Sherman discography: Part 1: Ja releases

This is Part 1 of a discography of Bim Sherman featuring his Jamaica-sourced productions, including any editions of them subsequently released to the rest of the world. The companion Part 2 lists Bim's credited releases sourced wholly outside of Jamaica.

Ja singles Ja albums On to Part 2...
(Non Ja)

Part 1 of this discography is not presented in chronological order, simply because the necessary information is not available. As is apparent, Bim recorded under multiple variants of his most familiar 'Bim Sherman' stage name, and due to the very large amount of re-recording, re-working and re-naming of basic rhythm tracks undertaken by Bim and guest artists, heavy use of the Rhythm Directory is made to help link individual tracks to their constituent rhythms. Due to this complexity other notes on each release are kept to a minimum. This was a difficult task for all concerned, and errors or omissions are likely.

Part 1, unlike Part 2 and the other acts, widens its coverage to Bim's early productions for other artists that featured on his Scorpio label, such as Jah Stone and U Brown - most often performing their own DJ versions over the top of his riddims. A summary of the releases on Bim's own UK label of more recent years, Century Records, is given separately.

Bim Sherman, as well as being a solo artist, contributed to many other On-U Sound releases by the New Age Steppers, Creation Rebel, Singers And Players, Deadly Headley, Dub Syndicate, Akabu, Gary Clail, Tackhead, the Strange Parcels, Audio Active and Keith LeBlanc. All releases featuring AMS are noted as appropriate. Bim also worked with the likes of Jah Wobble and Anne Marie - see the miscellaneous release section for more details.

Please contact me if you have new information you'd like to contribute.
