Though On-U Sound's efforts to promote it's own artists were all too often understated, and its products and live shows sometimes almost impossible to find out about, the music press have nevertheless faithfully charted and assessed Adrian Sherwood's work (typically) within its back pages for many years. The selection of press cuttings presented here review many different On-U Sound productions, releases and gigs, mostly during the label's first 20 years, and perhaps frustratingly reveal just how much critical acclaim has been directed towards On-U Sound over the years from the journalistic taste-makers, but that this was frequently not followed-up by the deserved financial pay-back to the label in terms of sales.
While the writers are almost all self-credited in their cuttings, the exact source of many of them has unfortunately not always been faithfully recorded; from their names though, you can probably spot regular writers from the pages of the NME, Sounds, Melody Maker, The Wire, Select and Underground UK music newspapers.
