An old friend of Adrian Sherwood, Pete Holdsworth as a member of London Underground was at the forefront of the launch of On-U Sound in 1980 and took part in many of the early live shows. As the band disbanded in 1984 he slipped out of the limelight but not from the scene. In 1989 he formed another short-lived band called Mystery Train, which featured reggae writer and Lee Perry biographer David Katz on keyboards. At a gig of theirs on September 2nd an attendant Lee Perry was inspired to join them onstage for some impromptu vocals!

Pete re-emerged fully in around 1994 to run the now successful Pressure Sounds reggae reissue label - initially alongside Sherwood as a subsidiary of On-U Sound. He was also involved in the setting up of the Green Tea label in 1997 that periodically issues new material by friends and associates such as Audio Active, Dry & Heavy and the Universe Crew.
