It was with his partner of the time, Kishi Yamamoto, that Adrian Sherwood first set up On-U Sound in 1980. Her influence on it's output and direction until their parting at the start of the 1990s always ran more through its veins than on its surface but was without doubt fundamentally significant.
In her time with On-U she demonstrated her talents in many ways. Firstly, as a gifted photographer and artist, we have her to thank for many of the classic early record sleeve designs. Her period photographs of On-U crew members have often become synonymous with both those in the frame and On-U itself, and her contributions continue sporadically to this day.
Secondly as a musician she made many appearances on releases such as by the Missing Brazilians, African Head Charge, Playgroup, Voice Of Authority, the Singers And Players, Dub Syndicate, the Barmy Army and Annie Anxiety / Little Annie - most often on keyboards / piano but any number of other instruments if required.
Finally, as a writer, producer and mixer she has contributed to a string of On-U projects - notably for Annie Anxiety / Little Annie. As suggested, she is no longer in the On-U Sound front line, but her legacy lives on.
